AMI History
The history of Sensus dates back to the late 1800s, when the primary business was in gas and water metering products. When the business was purchased by Rockwell in 1927, it became a global leader. The business introduced revolutionary new lines of residential and commercial meters in the 1950s and 1960s and eventually embraced remote meter reading systems in the 1980s.
Over the last fifteen years, as Sensus Metering Systems developed smart meters and AMR meter integration communication technology, AMDS developed the very best radio transmitting and receiving equipment and licensed dedicated FCC spectrum. The acquisition of AMDS in July of 2006 married these advancements to produce the Sensus FlexNet fixed base AMI system.
FlexNet boasts the highest level of protection, power and productivity in the industry today. Primary-use licensed communications and an industry leading 2 watts of transmitting power guarantee AMI data delivery.
